PLAYMOBIL JAMES BOND 007 ASTON MARTIN D.B.5 - GOLDFINGER EDITION...

Well that sure didn't take long. Ordered on Friday evening, delivered early this afternoon, yet another incarnation of the James Bond Aston Martin D.B.5., this one by Playmobil. No point me wittering on about it when I can simply show you some photos taken with my own trusty camera. Perhaps I should just point out that although it's got various features, only the ejector seat is operated by a lever (the exhaust - on the correct side, unlike the Corgi Toys version) at the back. The bulletproof shield, machine guns, front and rear overriders, and four tyre-slashers are 'operated' by pulling them out manually, or in the case of the number plates, revolving them. Love it to bits, though I'd say 007 definitely needs a haircut. (And thanks to reader and commenter Monty for the heads up about this wonderful toy, which first came out in 2021.)

So what do you think of it, Crivs? Is it the kind of thing you'd have if you were a great big wean like me? Fame, hordes of beautiful, screaming, adoring females, and untold riches are likely to be yours if you do. (You think I'd kid about a thing like that?) The car is approximately 10 inches long and is as light as a feather - a joy to gaze upon.

About the artist:

From 1985 to 2000 A.D. (little joke there), I contributed to a variety of high profile comics and magazines for various companies.

For IPC/FLEETWAY/EGMONT, I freelanced as a lettering and logo artist on various weekly comics and monthly magazines, and also as a resize comic artist and spot illustrator on pocket books, summer specials and annuals.

For MARVEL U.K., BLACK LIBRARY, REDAN and USBORNE BOOKS, I again freelanced as a lettering artist, also working as a restoration artist for MARVEL U.S., restoring and re-creating certain pages of JACK KIRBY art for their MARVEL MASTERWORKS editions.

I also lettered the MARVELMAN sample pages submitted to MARVEL U.S. when they were considering acquiring the character, which - as we all now know - they DID.

Supplied comic strips, cartoons and illustrated advertisements for local business campaigns and newspaper publication on a professional basis since the age of 16. Did my first paid art job for publication at 14 or 15 for Lanarkshire Education Board.

Have also made TV appearances as a collector of memorabilia.
